Description
I was the lead developer (out of two developers total) contracted by Infoseek for the development of a pure Java search engine. The search engine was to be usable for indexing intranets, a small group of websites, or the files on an individual computer. A functional prototype was built, for which I wrote the large majority of the code, and half of the project's milestones had successfully been completed when the contract was closed. Infoseek decided that they wanted to take their Java search engine product in a much different direction than was originally planned and as such the code base which I had developed at that point was largely unusable. Rather than rework the contract to accommodate the project's change of direction, the company I was subcontracting through decided to close the contract so that I could focus on my work with Pharmatrak.
